Isla Tortuga

This day-long tour begins with a 45 minute boat ride to the majestic Isla Tortuga.
After a morning of snorkeling throughIsla Tortuga Dia on Beach coral reefs teeming with aquatic wildlife, lunch is served on the immaculate white sand beach. After lunch, visitors are free to hike around the island, snorkel some more, or relax along the coast. On the way back to Montezuma, visitors have the chance to see whales, dolphins, and sea turtles in their natural environment. This is a must-do while in Montezuma!

Canopy Zipline

Hold on tight for this breathtaking canopy tour that takes travelers through nine cables well above the leafy treetops. English-speaking guides will lead visitors over forest floors and rivers while spotting howler monkeys, parrots, iguanas, and much more. Guests can swim in the glistening pools beneath Montezuma’s main waterfalls, and the tour concludes with two exhilarating cables that overlook unforgettable landscapes.

Scuba

The Central Pacific Ocean is home to stunning reefs composed of volcanic and coral formations that can rise up to 35 meters. Explore the thousands of aquatic species that populate these underwater oasis by booking a scuba tour through Proyecto Montezuma. Don’t have a scuba certification yet? Not a problem: visitors can earn an international CMAS diving certification with a session of classes, pool time, and deep sea diving excursions. Two-week minimum.

Join SUP Montezuma for a great day on the water! Montezuma has a bay which is the perfect spot for both beginner and advanced paddlers. Lessons with SUP Montezuma include tours to Cabuya and Pochote. SUP Montezuma not only provides paddle lessons but you will also see some of the most beautiful beaches in the Nicoya Peninsula.

Horseback Riding

Saddle up for a relaxing ride along a stretch of six beautiful beaches. Most of the tour lies along protected land, so visitors are sure to see plenty of native birds, monkeys, iquanas, and other wildlife. Proyecto Montezuma also offers a mountain tour that climbs up to nearby waterfalls, where visitors will find a rope swing, natural swimming pools, and, of course, amazing jungle views. Mountain Biking and Hiking Tours

Get your gears on with a breathtaking mountain bike tour across the hilly terrain and lush forests of the Nicoya Peninsula. Also be sure to seek out the colorful wildlife at the nearby Cabo Blanco nature reserve and take an awe-inspiring hike up Montezuma’s two roaring waterfalls. Making time to hike and experience the vast greenery of rural Costa Rica is a must-do.

Proyecto Montezuma offers hiking tours and mountain bike rentals to travelers wishing to explore the area. Guided hiking tours start from $15 and will take you up Montezuma’s waterfalls and along the forested paths of Playa Grande, in addition to giving you a well-versed introduction to Costa Rica’s floral and fauna. Mountain bike tours range from a leisurely ride along the coast towards Cabo Blanco, or challenging rides up “Pura Vida” road and to secret area waterfalls. Guided bike tours start at $35. Bike rentals are $20 and offer you a chance to explore on your own.

 

Transportation

Shuttle Transfer: $50
The shuttle will pick you up from SJO International Airport or your hotel and bring you to Montezuma. Shuttle pick-ups vary (please contact the office for more information) and the trip takes about five hours.

Jaco Speedboat: $40
The Jaco boat departs from Montezuma, heads to the shore of Playa Herradura (about 5 kilometers from downtown Jaco) and then heads back to Montezuma daily. The boat trip is about one hour and you have a chance to see dolphins, whales and sea turtles.
