  • TEFL Certification
    In this four week program you not only volunteer teach to area adults and children, but you also earn your internationally-recognized TEFL teaching certification. Proyecto Montezuma’s TEFL team consists of  highly qualified, enthusiastic instructors who have taught English in Costa Rica and around the globe. The main instructors have Masters degrees and formal training in Education, and all are highly successful in teaching English as a second or foreign language. This four week course prepares you to seek teaching positions all over the globe. Job assistance is offered upon successful course completion. Over 90% success rate for graduates getting jobs! This program is $2,500 with your arrival shuttle, shared room lodging in our Santa Teresa location and all needed course and teaching supplies included (book one month in advance and save $150).

 

  • TEFL & Teaching Practicum
    In this 2 month, 2 site program, you will earn your TEFL teaching degree during the first month and then expand and perfect your teaching skills with a personalized teaching schedule during your second month. Month one is spent in our Santa Teresa location and month two is spent in our Montezuma location, giving you the best of the Nicoya Peninsula. This program is ideal for those seeking teaching jobs immediately upon earning your TEFL degree and for traveler’s who are eager to leave a lasting impact on the local community and make life-long friends. Participants are accepted most months of the year and early registration is highly recommended. This program is $3,000 with your arrival shuttle, shared room lodging and all needed course and teaching supplies included.

 

  • TEFL Internship
    In this 3 month internship, you will earn your TEFL teaching certification and then work with Proyecto Montezuma. You will be responsible for  upholding an agreed upon teaching contract designed by the Program Director and Academic Director which will include (but is not limited to) organizing local English class, lesson planning, executing classes, social marketing and generating community involvement. Previous teaching experience, intermediate Spanish language proficiency and TEFL certification with Proyecto Montezuma are required with internship. It is highly recommend to add-on Spanish immersion classes during the first month to ensure your success. This three-month position begins every January, May and September and spaces are limited to two participants per trimester.   • English Teacher Volunteer
    Proyecto Montezuma accepts volunteers to assist with our adult and child EFL classes. Volunteers are required to work for a minimum of two weeks. The volunteer program fee is $155 per week and includes your shared room lodging, training, lesson plan assistance, all needed teaching materials and supplies, personalized teaching schedule and transportation to area schools. For those interested in Teaching English, our TEFL certification program is a wonderful way to give back to the local community while gaining your valuable teaching certificate applicable worldwide.  Please contact us for availability and an application for the TEFL program.

 

  • Environmental and/or Community Project Volunteer
    Proyecto Montezuma leads many environmental projects and partners with local community organizations during the year. We work with the community to lead beach clean-ups, partner with the United Nations Billion Tree Campaign and strive to help keep Montezuma as naturally beautiful as possible.   • Sea Turtle Preservation Volunteer
    Proyecto Montezuma seeks year-round volunteers to work with the local sea turtle population. Based on the time of year, volunteers patrol nightly seeking females laying eggs, protect and document nests, care for baby sea turtles, maintain nursery and more. Please contact us to find out more about this meaningful experience in Montezuma and around Costa Rica.
