The Difference

Proyecto TEFL’s teacher trainers use a variety of teaching techniques in the TEFL classroom and personalize additional workshops to fit trainees specific needs. Our trainee group is limited to eight participants per month to ensure individualized attention as you become a language teacher. Trainees are given personalized assistance in lesson planning as well as feedback session for all classes observed. Trainees will gain experience leading classes, co-teaching, observe each other and giving peer feedback. This gives trainees the chance to experience and try out new strategies and techniques in a supportive learning atmosphere, while gaining skills and confidence as a new teacher. The course consists of 120 hours of training in four weeks. Trainees will be given job placement assistance to find the perfect teaching job upon graduation. Teachers will also complete a portfolio of their work throughout the course, which will be used in their future classrooms and as a tool during job interviews. Proyecto TEFL graduates are currently teaching English all over the world – with a 90% success rate for graduates getting jobs! Plus, as a participant you support much needed educational opportunities around the Nicoya Peninsula. Our non-profit organization leads free classes at local elementary schools and to area adults, plus summer camps and extra-curricular courses for deserving children.
